Speed Stacks a major hit at administrators’ retreat!

Introducing sport stacking is as easy as 1-2-3

Each person was given a set of Speed Stacks as part of the introduction to a new "physical" skill.

The group was taught the basics of sport stacking by the end of the session.

The last day saw the 3-6-3 Championships. Each participant was allowed 3 consecutive trials to post their times. Everyone qualified.

"Speed Stacks were the biggest hit ever at our Administrators’ Retreat," writes Melanie Elrod, Director of Student Services at Newton-Conover City Schools in North Carolina.

"Each year, I try to introduce an activity to our administrators that we can all learn together.. I’ve never seen an adult group more enthusiastic about learning a new skill.

We were all delighted and amazed when our shyest and probably least competitive principal won! (Our superintendent and the other former jocks did not handle it well!) Everyone really enjoyed learning to stack."

Here’s what Melanie did at the Newton-Conover City Schools 3-day Administrators’ Retreat:

She first enlisted the help of one of her physical education instructors familiar with sport stacking with Speed Stacks. From there, it was as easy as 1-2-3 (or make that 3-6-3):

(45 minutes): Each year, the group is introduced to a new “physical” skill without knowing what that skill will be in advance. Each person was given a set of Speed Stacks, and stacking was introduced. The group was taught the basics, and by the end of the session, most of them understood how to do the 3-6-3.

(30 minutes): The group was surprised and very enthused with the chance to continue learning more about stacking. The skills from Day One were reviewed to reinforce the 3-6-3. The session concluded with “target time” trials at 3-6-3. They were told when to start and “time” was called after 15 seconds.

(30 minutes): This was the day for the 3-6-3 Championships. Five StackMats were used, and each participant was allowed 3 consecutive trials to post their times. Videos were given to everyone who hit under 15 seconds (everyone qualified!), A set of Minis was given to the top 17 times. The competition was a big hit—they had a blast—especially since nine of them beat our superintendent in the competition!
