Lahser High School students participate in stacking program.

Take innovative teachers and add a creative idea...
Kelley Parish from Lahser High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan has recently started a one-of-a-kind sport stacking program at her school.

Kelley and some of her colleagues attended a Speed Stacks' Workshop and decided to teach the skills to the deaf students that are at the school.

The idea gains momentum!
These deaf students then taught the hearing students how to stack.

Kelley said, "I hoped that the deaf students would build self confidence and also gain a skill that their hearing peers did not have".

The program blossoms as more students join in... About 36 kids at Lahser High School and about 120 total in the district are currently involved in sport stacking.

Ms. Parish adds, “We have used the (Speed Stacks) to have several tournaments to 'unite' the different ages here at the high school.

Sport Stacking is enthusiastically shared..."

"Our deaf students also went into the hearing American Sign Language (ASL) classes and taught those students how to do the various events".

Competitions are a natural outcome...

The deaf students challenged the hearing students to many competitions - including a Timed 2 person Team Relay!

Kudos!
Thanks to all the staff and students at Lahser High School for sharing this special program!

Good ideas spread...
The school now also has a math teacher who uses Speed Stacks in her math program.
