"Lil' Tykes take OFF" - April, 2006

"Lil' Tykes take OFF!: My 3rd, 4th and 5th grader sport stackers were getting ready to compete in the first ever Washington State competition last month. So we "warped" our speed in front of the whole school at a Spirit Assembly. It was here that my kindergartners and first graders saw sport stacking for the first time ever!

These "Lil' tykes were so excited when they came to p.e. the following week! Of course they wanted to do the 10 stack right away! It was extremely difficult to get through to them that they needed to learn the basic ole three stack first. They are now doing the triple three and next week they will compete against the timer to get their first ever sport stacking time. It is so exciting to watch these tykes use both hands at the same time!

Their favorite sport stacking game is Fox and Hound! They can't get enough of this game so I have 3 to 4 tables going at once. This game makes sure that each Lil' tyke gets to race against someone in the short period of time that I have them in the gym.

Sport stacking is so popular here at Stanwood Elementary that I will be doing a sport stacking club during lunch recess next year and continue with my after school program. Students are continually checking-out sport stacking equipment to take home for the weekend! Thank you for such an awesome sport that allows students of all size, shape, and color to participate-any pair of hands can "warp" sport stacking!"
