"Rhonda Holt, 2000 NASPE National Elementary School Teacher of the Year, teaches a full-blown stacking program at her school in Kansas. She has tied stacking to NASPE National Physical Education Standards #1 (motor skills) and #5 (social skills). “Stacking helps promote all fundamental motor skills,” she said. “As for social skills, in stacking we talk about taking turns, encouraging each other and never giving up.”

Holt also sees the relationship of stacking to current brain research and the benefits of students crossing the midline. “I see stacking as a tool to help students find success academically,” she said.
