Venue: Live broadcast on the BBC television show "Blue Peter" at the BBC Television Centre, London on Friday 6th February 2004.

When Speed Stacks was offered the opportunity to demonstrate sport stacking to producers of the popular Blue Peter television show on Wednesday 28th January, little did they expect that eight days later they would be demonstrating on a live TV broadcast to millions of viewers across the United Kingdom!

Blue Peter producers were so taken with the sport they asked if we could bring a team to demonstrate and asked if one of the faster stackers could attempt a new British Record live on air.

A team of stackers was selected from schools in the Hornchurch area. Leading the team was Kate Parker, also of Hornchurch who is currently the U.K's fastest stacker and holder of the British Record.

During the show Kate demonstrated freestyle stacking to music and later coached presenter Matt Baker in the 3-6-3 Stack! Whilst this was happening, in the background a team of stackers demonstrated continuous 3-6-3 relays.

Towards the end of the show they brought Kate back on for an attempt at her British Record which she set at the World Championships in Denver 2003.

In front of Sport Stacking Officials, Dave and Sue Wake and Carol Kemsley, Kate was told she had time for two attempts. The studio was calmed and this time Presenter Matt was joined by fellow presenter Liz Barker who wished Kate the best and stood nearby...

Kate completely fumbled the first 3 pyramid and had to re-build before finishing very strongly with a time of 10.17 second's. Recognising Kate had beaten the time of her previous "Record", a fanfare was sounded and everyone congratulated Kate on a job well done.

Unfortunately for Kate this meant they ran out of time and she was unable to do a second attempt. Kate was a little disappointed as she had constantly hit the 8 second mark during rehearsal's... but "That's Show Business".

The event was very enjoyable and we hope to do more work with the BBC in the near future!
